Blog/News

(my Instagram account is my blog because having both a blog and a social media account at the same time is too much pressure and writing paragraphs is not my communication of choice ~ but to “read the news”, click on an image)

Views of the installation at @tinyscoffee ✨ Happy belated 8th Birthday Mikhail Rumpus ~ it was actually on Wednesday but I couldn’t properly acknowledge it. You still got many brushes and cuddles. I hope we have 8 more years together 🐾 Got to see two bands from @nadinerecords this week - @the_mistons at the lollipop shoppe on sunday and @wildpowwers with @garyvmusic at the doug fir last night 🎸 Primary 🔴🔵🟡 All photos by @kestrelphoto Gotta puff up like a pufferfish and pull. Meet PRs: 209lbs (deadlift) and 160lbs (squat). Only made 88lbs for bench due to losing momentum with pauses but 7 out of 9 ain’t too shabby. Big thank you to my coach @mel_oddbarbell and congratulations to @excusemekatie for organizing such a top class event. Thank you @daya707 for being my first guest audience. Love all the community at @odd_barbell 🐡 ohhhhh Stash! Commission for @daya707 I stayed standing in one place until 11:30ishpm which is an absolute miracle for me to accomplish on any evening nowadays. Goes to show how special this gig was. @thee.quasi @shayleeband @___numberdeux___ Non-digital. 120 Porta 400/800 film from my toy Holga, 2022. First installment of the batch. Big thanks to @dirtyneutron for helping me get them developed/printed. Happy milestone Birthday to the G.O.A.T @says_huhn ~ love you love you seester of mine 🐐 💜 👯‍♀️ Going rebel and not posting snow today 🌊 #tbt to watching Nobuhiko Obayashi’s House and then wandering the Winter Lights Festival with @lauracatcray Some more details before this baby gets stored underground 🦖 Unwound show w/ Slang A bit of context: Portland still has some of these “horse rings” on the sidewalks - iron rings used by folks in the olden days to park their horses while they wrestled tree logs or something. Now instead of real horses, you can sometimes find toys tied to them. I remember on one neighborhood block, a few years back, there were toy dinosaurs wired to each one. Hence the inspiration. Also the ocean with my dad. And the crows celebrating the fire sky sunsets. And trash or treasure. 🐎 🦕 Light. my fingernails have never looked better (I’m serious). Thank you @dirtyneutron.nails 💅 Forever grateful for the opportunity to contribute one of my photographs to accompany an essay by Scott Korb in the @buckmanjournal “This Is Portland” (issue 009). Picked up my copy at the Indie Book Fair today - it’s a big one 📕 Thank you @an__ellen A momentary break from hiatus to acknowledge my mom’s birthday 🐚 Art is the only thing that pushes me to do things that I would be too terrified to attempt otherwise - whether it’s handling saws or filling/using a butane blow torch. The results are always a hot mess but they’re still mine. The sequence of this one was impulsive and done backwards (melting the plastics before adding them to the canvas would’ve saved my painting from bursting into flames) but I’ll make it work. I may have underestimated the resilience of that toy dinosaur 🦖 An Evening of Poetry & Music presented by @buckmanjournal last night. Reminds me of why I love this city and why I’m still here. So excited for the special issue titled This Is Portland coming out on December 6th - thank you @an__ellen for including one of my photographs, thank you Rich Perin for the sneak peek, and thank you @wxsherri for going with me. 🍂🖤🍁 hot Fall (Wore a mask). I got to see the legendary L7 from above commemorating the 30th anniversary of Bricks Are Heavy - and I was also very pleased to find that Fea was the opener 💕 some travel drawings Didn’t know anybody at the show per usual so I hid up in the far corner of the balcony with the comfy chairs. (I was masked 😷). Turns out it was a far better view to see Satan’s Pilgrims, Venturesmania, The Phantom Surfers, The Woggles, and Girl Trouble play at DaveStomp! - a tribute show in the memory of Dave Pilgrim. I’m lucky to have been able to see him play live in The Pynnacles (a band I miss). Seeing Satan’s Pilgrims and Girl Trouble on stage was pretty unforgettable and rad. Took a month off of training to jump between two completely different worlds, so I’m gonna have to work my way up again - not a bad thing. Lucked out coming home today and finding out @thee.quasi was about to start their set a few blocks down the street 🌞 Same place, same expression, always happily wary anywhere on the planet 🌿🌱🌊 35 and still alive. Much gratitude to my longtime friends and my big sister for keeping an eye on me by taking me to art museums/galleries (my favorite places) and for feeding me 🧡
